St Moritz is known for its luscious hotels, great night life and upscale restaurants. What some people do not know is that St Moritz is the birthplace of various, worldfamous sweet treats like the Engadiner Nusstorte and Swiss high quality chocolates. The confectionery/patisserie scene in St Moritz is actually at the same level as it's legendary luxury hotel scene.
For over sixty years ago Mister Hauser decided to leave Zurich and buy a place in the heart of St Moritz where he would start a hotel/restaurant and a confectionery business.
Now, after 60 years, the hotel/ restaurant and confectionery are still here! The place became a true landmark right in the middle of the city centre. This is the place where you meet for coffee, have a tea after some serious shopping or where you have your apres ski drinks. The Roo Bar, as the outside bar is called, is the place where you get to see everything pass by.
We decided to see if the restaurant can live up to the standards of the famous confectionery they share their kitchen with. You go to eat at Hauser for two main reasons: To have a relaxing night with friends and family and to eat honest and great food without it be pretentious. Hauser does not aspires a Michelin star but on the other hand the food is prepared with the same care and the ingredients are of high quality you might figure Michelin awarded chefs and the buyer from Hauser run into each other while doing their grocery shopping.
The meats are of excellent quality and the wines are carefully selected. Hauser even serves a great housewine that is specially made for them by a befriended wine maker in Ticino.
The restaurant organises theme nights such a Jazz sessions and food specials like a hot stone dinner.
