Imagine a hotel located at the edge of a pine forest, facing the Matterhorn at located at 2222 meters above sea level. The Riffelalp is unique for its location, outstanding service and style.
⚠️ During peak season, the mandatory minimum stay is at least 7 nightss
The hotel is not as easy to reach as hotels along the road but let's face it, the Riffelalp is worth the journey as you will find everything you need under one roof.
As the hotel is located on the slopes a little above Zermatt village, there is a slightly different rule book when it comes to checking in. The porter will look after your luggage and escort you to the Gornergrat railway. You will be given the tickets for the train. Upon your arrival at Riffelalp, the Riffelalp porter will take over your luggage, while you can either take a transfer or enjoy a short walk (5 min.) to the hotel. There are late night trains from Riffelalp to Zermatt at 22.58 and 23.50. For more info please visit the timetable here..
For a high altitude dining experience you can choose from several options during day and night. Besides the 'regular' roomservice you'll find three restaurants: Ristorante Al Bosco, an elegant restaurant with sun terrace that serves great Italian classics during day and night. At night Restaurant Alexandre opens it's doors for a five star hotel dining experience. Also at night but only during winter the Restaurant Walliserkeller serves regional cuisine from the open fire. Here they serve local specialties like Fondue, Raclette and meat dishes cooked on hot stones. The bar and Vinothek (open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday only) take care of your thirsty moments. During the day there is the Mark Twain lounge for casual yet trendy and sun soaked outdoor lunch with slope view included.
What's a resort without a Spa... Therefore The Riffelalp has all you can possibly think of for relaxing moments and healing treatments under one roof. The so called St. Trop Spa comes with an in- and outdoor pool, a sun deck, several treatment rooms, a steam bath, a Finnish sauna, a small fitness, several caves and grotto's (not like the one in the Mansion), a whirlpool and a solarium. The staff wants you to shine, they say!
Good to know: For medical emergencies, doctors and Air Zermatt are available in Zermatt. As all doctors are located in the village and need to be ready for emergencies, home visits are not possible because of the hotel's location. We advise you to stay healthy.

Dogs are welcome at the hotel, although they are not allowed in the Restaurant Alexandre and the pool area. Upon request we will put a dog basket in your room. This is dogs heaven at its best as they can play and run outside in the snow.
The rooms are spacious and equipped with modern technology but who needs TV or internet with such stunning Matterhorn views.
Although the hotel is situated on the slopes of the Matterhorn the hotel is very suitable for hikers and mountain lovers in general. You do not have to hit the slopes just to have a good time at the Riffelalp.
